PLAY GUIDE

Fast laps are made on corner exit

Settle your speed before turn-in, use a drift to rotate the kart, and straighten the wheel before you release a boost. These controls and handling rules apply in both single-player and online races.

Desktop controls

  • W or Up Arrow: accelerate
  • S or Down Arrow: brake; continue holding at low speed to reverse
  • A and D or Left and Right Arrows: steer
  • Shift: drift
  • Space: use one stored boost
  • R: return to the nearest safe point on the racing line
  • P: pause a single-player race; F: fullscreen; Escape: open the menu

Small steering corrections preserve speed on a straight. Before a tight corner, release acceleration or tap the brake early enough to make one clean turn rather than several sharp corrections.

Mobile controls

Turn your device to landscape for the race layout. The kart accelerates automatically, leaving your thumbs free for steering and race actions. Hold the analog stick on the lower left and drag sideways to set steering strength. The pointer remains captured until you lift your finger, so steering continues even if your finger moves beyond the visible control.

The brake sits above the steering area. Hold it after the kart stops to reverse. Drift is the large control on the lower right, with boost above it. You can steer, brake, or drift with separate fingers at the same time.

Mobile browsers only allow fullscreen after a deliberate tap. Use the fullscreen control in the game; adding K-Racing to your home screen can provide a more app-like display.

Drifting and boost charge

Hold a steering direction and Drift together to slide. DRIFT CHARGE rises while the kart maintains a useful drift. Staying sideways for too long widens the line and scrubs speed, so begin unwinding the steering just after the apex.

A full charge becomes one boost, and you can store up to two. Boosts work best on a long straight or a gentle climb where the extra speed can be carried. Using one immediately before a hairpin increases braking distance and often costs more time than it saves.

  1. Brake or lift before the corner.
  2. Turn in, then engage Drift as the kart begins to rotate.
  3. Aim for a late apex when the next section is a long straight.
  4. Release Drift, straighten the kart, and accelerate.
  5. Use boost only once the exit line is clear.

Elevation, road width, and recovery

Climbs add resistance, so entering uphill sections with momentum matters. Descents build speed and lengthen braking zones. Wide roads support sweeping drifts; narrow competitive sections reward a shorter, more controlled rotation that leaves room for nearby karts.

If you leave the course or become trapped against scenery, press R. The kart returns to a nearby point on the intended route. Recovery is faster than forcing the kart through a barrier, but it still costs race time.

Starting an online race

  1. Choose a track on the main game screen and select Find Online Room.
  2. Create a room or join an available room running the same track.
  3. Guests select Ready; the host starts after checking the grid.

Draft directly behind another player to gain a slipstream bonus. The strongest effect is near the center of the wake. When the field spreads far apart, trailing positions may receive a modest catch-up adjustment to keep the race competitive.

Once the leader finishes, the race remains open for ten seconds so nearby racers can complete their run. Online results do not enter the single-player time rankings. Read the full multiplayer guide for connection and lobby details.

Single-player time rankings

Finish a single-player race while connected to submit your time. Rankings are kept separately for each track and handling revision, so results only compete under matching conditions. Your displayed racer name and completion time are public on the leaderboard.

Course or vehicle balance changes create a new revision. Older results remain in their original ranking rather than being mixed with times set under different physics.
