Start a race in three steps
- Choose your identity and track. Enter a racer name on the main screen, select one of the five courses, and choose Find Online Room.
- Create or join. Join an available room running that track, or create a room and invite other players with its room details.
- Ready the grid. Guests select Ready. The host can begin once the participants have confirmed that they are prepared.
Each room supports up to eight players. Everyone in a room runs the same selected track and handling version, preventing mismatched courses or physics on the starting grid.
How the online race stays competitive
Slipstream
A moving kart leaves an invisible drafting cone behind it. Follow within that wake to gain speed. The effect becomes stronger near the centerline, so a precise chase is faster than merely staying somewhere behind the leader. Pull out before the braking zone if you need a clear line into the next corner.
Catch-up balance
When the distance to first place grows substantially, trailing positions can receive a modest speed adjustment. The benefit is larger farther down the order. It reduces runaway gaps without replacing braking points, drift timing, or track knowledge.
Ten-second finish window
First place does not close the race immediately. After the leader crosses the line, other racers have ten seconds to finish and secure their result. Keep driving through the final sector even if the winner has already arrived.
What the host controls
The host's browser coordinates the race state and distributes it to participants. Remote karts are rendered between incoming updates so ordinary network variation does not appear as a series of hard jumps. Your own kart remains locally responsive.
If you switch to another app or tab, the browser may suspend timers to save power. When you return, K-Racing discards stale timing gaps and resynchronizes before normal smoothing resumes. A short correction may still occur on a weak connection, but old queued motion should not be replayed across the track.
If the host leaves or loses connectivity, the current room may end. For the most stable race, the host should keep the game visible and use a reliable network.
Connection technology and privacy
K-Racing uses a signaling server to exchange room state and establish WebRTC connections. When network conditions allow, driving data travels directly between each participant and the host. If firewalls or carrier networks prevent a direct path, an authenticated TURN server can relay the traffic.
Peer connections can reveal an IP address to the connection peer. Room codes, racer names, ready states, and connection negotiation messages pass through the K-Racing service. See the privacy policy for the full explanation.
Before joining the grid
- Use a current Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox release with JavaScript and WebGL enabled.
- Close heavy background tabs if frame rate becomes inconsistent.
- On mobile, rotate to landscape and use the in-game fullscreen control after tapping the page.
- Choose a nearby, stable Wi-Fi or wired connection where possible.
- Practice the selected course against AI before racing unfamiliar players.

If a room does not connect
- Refresh the room list and confirm that the host is still present.
- Make sure both players selected the same track and are using the current game version.
- Temporarily disable a VPN or restrictive network filter, then retry.
- Try a different network if a school, office, or carrier connection blocks WebRTC traffic.
- Create a new room if the previous host closed the page.
Online race results are separate from single-player rankings. To post a leaderboard time, finish the same track in single-player while connected to the internet.
